Homeschooling takes a lot of effort and patience!

There are so many little gadgets and tools out there to help the homeschooling mom and I wanted to share 5 of my favorite tools, ones that I use all the time in our own homeschooling room. So without further ado, here they are.

A filing system.

Whether you use a large filing cabinet, a file folder, or a filing box, having somewhere to file all those papers is a life saver. I use files to separate each child’s curriculum by week. So each weekly folder contains all of the work sheets and printable we will need for the week. If you have books to go with your studies for the week (think thin, paperback style), those can be tucked into the file as well! As we finish each week, I move that file to the back of the box. It’s nice to be able to easily see what week we are on and not have to hunt around for papers/books.

Command Strips.

These things are awesome! I use them to hang posters (abc’s, days of the week, world map, etc) on the wall without damaging it. You just pull the tab when its time to remove and they come right off!

Post It Tabs.

I use these to mark where I’m at in my teachers manuals for each student. We also use them to mark pages in their math books and other texts. They are nice and big, which makes it easy to see them and turn to the page without them pulling off.

Fine Tip Pens.

Whether it’s to mark an assignment, or just to take my own notes, I can never get enough of fine tip pens! They just write so smoothly and look all official and pretty. And of course you need to have an assortment of colors depending on the use and what mood your in.

Post It Flags.

My teachers manuals use a grid system to lay out what is to be done in each subject, each day. I use these flags, one for each subject. As we finish the task, I move the flag over so that it covers that subject box. It’s a great way to visually mark what is finished and what still needs to be worked on for the day.

So there you have it. Those are some of my favorite, must have tools as a homeschooling mom. Simple, yet so effective!

What are your must haves?
