History Alive Online teaches history, science, and geography aimed at children from 8-18 years old. All of the content is online and easy to access at a very affordable rate, starting at just $10 per month.
The program is divided into two age groups, one for 8-11 year olds, and the other for 12-18 year olds. Currently, the younger group is learning about Knights & Castles (they just finished up a unit about Canada). The older group is currently learning about Great Britain (they also just finished a unit about Canada).
Inside each age level, you will find a welcome video and two topics. One is the current topic, and the 2nd is the upcoming topic. I really like that they show you what’s coming next so that you can plan ahead. When we first got started, the kids were learning about Canada. This month we are learning about Great Britain for the older kids, and Knights & Castles for the younger kids.
Each topic has an intro video and information on additional resource books you can use to dig deeper into the topics. Then, each day of the month, there will be a daily video to watch, usually about 5 minutes or so in length. Each video also has a worksheet that your child can fill out as they watch the video. I find that having them do the worksheet really helps to solidify what they are learning in the videos.
Both of my kids have really been enjoying the program. The lessons are short, usually just a 5-minute video and a worksheet, which is perfect for our homeschool schedule. And they love how quick and easy it is to complete. The program has also been very easy to use and we’ve had no technical problems at all. The videos are fun and engaging and packed full of neat facts and tidbits.
If you’re looking for a new history program for your homeschool, we highly recommend History Alive Online! It’s been a great fit for our family and we think it would be perfect for yours too. Thanks for reading and happy homeschooling!
